January book releases I look forward to

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and will have an amazing New year.
These are the books I look forward to for the first month of the year.

The hundred lies of Lizzie Lovett (January 3rd)

I had the chance to read this book a few months before hand and I absolutely loved it.
Here’s my review

A teenage misfit named Hawthorn Creely inserts herself in the investigation of missing person Lizzie Lovett, who disappeared mysteriously while camping with her boyfriend. Hawthorn doesn’t mean to interfere, but she has a pretty crazy theory about what happened to Lizzie. In order to prove it, she decides to immerse herself in Lizzie’s life. That includes taking her job… and her boyfriend. It’s a huge risk — but it’s just what Hawthorn needs to find her own place in the world.

Life in a fishbowl (January 3rd)

Fifteen-year-old Jackie Stone is a prisoner in her own house. Everything she says and does 24/7 is being taped and broadcast to every television in America. Why? Because her dad is dying of a brain tumor and he has auctioned his life on eBay to the highest bidder: a ruthless TV reality show executive at ATN.

Gone is her mom’s attention and cooking and parent-teacher conferences. Gone is her sister’s trust ever since she’s been dazzled by the cameras and new-found infamy. Gone is her privacy. Gone is the whole family’s dignity as ATN twists their words and makes a public mockery of their lives on Life and Death. But most of all, Jackie fears that one day very soon her father will just be . . . gone. Armed only with her ingenuity and the power of the internet, Jackie is determined to end the show and reclaim all of their lives, even in death.

Under Rose-Tainted Skies (January 3rd)

Norah has agoraphobia and OCD. When groceries are left on the porch, she can’t step out to get them. Struggling to snag the bags with a stick, she meets Luke. He’s sweet and funny, and he just caught her fishing for groceries. Because of course he did.

Norah can’t leave the house, but can she let someone in? As their friendship grows deeper, Norah realizes Luke deserves a normal girl. One who can lie on the front lawn and look up at the stars. One who isn’t so screwed up.

A list of cages (January 10th)

When Adam Blake lands the best elective ever in his senior year, serving as an aide to the school psychologist, he thinks he’s got it made. Sure, it means a lot of sitting around, which isn’t easy for a guy with ADHD, but he can’t complain, since he gets to spend the period texting all his friends. Then the doctor asks him to track down the troubled freshman who keeps dodging her, and Adam discovers that the boy is Julian–the foster brother he hasn’t seen in five years.

Adam is ecstatic to be reunited. At first, Julian seems like the boy he once knew. He’s still kind hearted. He still writes stories and loves picture books meant for little kids. But as they spend more time together, Adam realizes that Julian is keeping secrets, like where he hides during the middle of the day, and what’s really going on inside his house. Adam is determined to help him, but his involvement could cost both boys their lives.

A quiet kind of thunder (January 12th)

Steffi doesn’t talk, but she has so much to say.
Rhys can’t hear, but he can listen.
Their love isn’t a lightning strike, it’s the rumbling roll of thunder.

Steffi has been a selective mute for most of her life – she’s been silent for so long that she feels completely invisible. But Rhys, the new boy at school, sees her. He’s deaf, and her knowledge of basic sign language means that she’s assigned to look after him. To Rhys, it doesn’t matter that Steffi doesn’t talk, and as they find ways to communicate, Steffi finds that she does have a voice, and that she’s falling in love with the one person who makes her feel brave enough to use it.

From the bestselling author of Beautiful Broken Things comes a love story about the times when a whisper is as good as a shout.

History is all you left me (January 17th)

When Griffin’s first love and ex-boyfriend, Theo, dies in a drowning accident, his universe implodes. Even though Theo had moved to California for college and started seeing Jackson, Griffin never doubted Theo would come back to him when the time was right. But now, the future he’s been imagining for himself has gone far off course.

To make things worse, the only person who truly understands his heartache is Jackson. But no matter how much they open up to each other, Griffin’s downward spiral continues. He’s losing himself in his obsessive compulsions and destructive choices, and the secrets he’s been keeping are tearing him apart.

If Griffin is ever to rebuild his future, he must first confront his history, every last heartbreaking piece in the puzzle of his life.

December Books haul & Christmas presents!

I hope everyone had or is having a great Christmas! I had a wonderful one 😀 I’m first of all going to discuss the books I got myself during this month and after I’ll discuss my presents as all of them has pretty much something to do with books 🙂

I wanted to have the Heroes of Olympus series for a long time already, but I think everyone knows that getting the whole series in hardback, new, is quite expensive. I was lucky enough to find them second hand for a much lower price! I haven’t started reading them just yet but I’m really excited to!

I have read Amy & Roger’s Epic detour years ago in Dutch. I absolutely loved this book and I’ve always wanted to have the English edition one. I also got this one second hand just like One and The program. I used to have a copy of The perks of being a wallflower but I had to get a new one as my old copy was completely damaged of reading it over and over again. The perks is one of my all time favourite books

November book haul!

15272047_10209555786749327_4803090953139576783_o.jpg

To begin with: The Noughts and Crosses series by Malorie Blackman. I have read Noughts & Crosses a few months ago and absolutely loved it (Here’s my review) I’m really excited to read all the other books in this series! 😀

The perks of being a wallflower, one of my all time favourite book. I fell in love with this book when I was having a bad time with my depression. I find myself reading this book everytime I have a bad time. I had to re-buy a copy as my old one was really badly damaged. This is a book that everyone should read at least once in their life.

I love Rick Riordan and I can’t wait to read those books. I still need to read the first book of Magnus Chase but I’m 100% sure those books will be as good as all the others he has written
