Synopsis
Percy Jackson is a good kid, but he can’t seem to focus on his schoolwork or control his temper. And lately, being away at boarding school is only getting worse—Percy could have sworn his pre-algebra teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill him. When Percy’s mom finds out, she knows it’s time that he knew the truth about where he came from, and that he go to the one place he’ll be safe. She sends Percy to Camp Half Blood, a summer camp for demigods (on Long Island), where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea. Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends—one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena—Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods.
What I think of it
Why did I wait until my 21 years to read this series? (I asked myself this question many times while reading this book)
It’s a middle grade book so I was afraid it would have been too childish but (except for some titles) it wasn’t at all.
I have to admit that I saw the Percy Jackson films first and they made me want to read the books.. Thank God I finally have now. Let me just say this: This book was SO much better than the film.. Like wow. The film is so different from the book, very important parts in the book have been left out in the film (shame)
I always loved Greek mythology, when I was a kid I actually believed that those Gods existed (kinda still hope they do). So reading this book was very enjoyable for me. I absolutely loved the characters. The story line is amazing, nothing feels being rushed, every single situation is handled well and with enough information.
I couldn’t get enough of it, I cannot wait to start Sea of monsters!!
Glad you enjoyed it. I love this series. Hope you’ll like it too.❤
