Title: Amy & Roger’s epic detour
Author: Morgan Matson
Genre: YA, Road trip
“The best discoveries always happened to the people who weren’t looking for them.”
Amy Curry is not looking forward to her summer. Her mother decided to move across the country and now it’s Amy’s responsibility to get their car from California to Connecticut. The only problem is, since her father died in a car accident, she isn’t ready to get behind the wheel. Enter Roger. An old family friend, he also has to make the cross-country trip – and has plenty of baggage of his own. The road home may be unfamiliar – especially with their friendship venturing into uncharted territory – but together, Amy and Roger will figure out how to map their way.
What I think of it
I have read this book when I was about 16-17 and it’s one of my absolute favourite books of my childhood.
This book tells the story of Amy and Roger’s road trip from California to Connecticut. Instead of taking the roads and hotels that Amy’s mum planned, Roger and Amy do a huge detour and stop by different states, places and meet new people.
I fell in love with this book and it’s one of those books that I couldn’t put down.
The characters are great, the plot is very emotional and you just feel like you want to put this book in your heart and keep it in there.
This story gives you the chills and as soon as you end it you know that one day you want to do a road trip with your loved one, and that’s exactly what I’m planning to do.
